Have you seen it yet? Well, of course you have.

We finally know who will be joining Peter Capaldi in the TARDIS next series.

Not a bad introduction for a new companion, is it? We’re very excited about Pearl Mackie joining Peter Capaldi in the TARDIS for the next series!! A new companion is always an exciting and wonderful thing, even when some of us are still in mourning for the loss of the previous one.* Or perhaps even for a certain show runner who is on the way out as well.**

But we are incredibly excited to see what adventures await the Doctor and Bill next year! I don’t think I’ve ever been so anxious for an entire year to go by before.

What about you? Are you excited to see Pearl Mackie join Team TARDIS? Or are you still in denial over losing the Impossible Girl? Or River…or the Ponds…or Donna…or Martha…or Jack…or maybe that blonde girl that was always snogging David Tennant–I can never remember her name.***

* Okay, let’s be reasonable here. If you’ve read this blog before, then you know that I am a massive fan of Clara Oswald (in all her forms). I think a lot of us have at least one companion that we really take to heart and identify with. Our own personal representative in the TARDIS, I suppose. Well, mine was Clara. I’m not sure what that says about me as a person exactly, but there you go. Also, I’m writing this on Jenna Coleman’s birthday, so I can’t not talk about her. Happy Birthday, Jenna!!

** You may have noticed that we didn’t actually say anything when the announcement came that Steven Moffat would be handing the reins over to Chris Chibnall after 2017. This was actually deliberate. Not that we didn’t think it was a newsworthy announcement, because obviously it is. But to be even more honest, Doctor Who show runners are–and sort of always have been–a touchy subject for a lot of people. So in the interest of fairness, we thought the subject deserved a bit more more care and attention to detail than simply gushing tears and feels and blood in one direction or another.  That said, we will be talking about them quite soon.

*** I’m just teasing, Rose fans. I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.

Anyway, if it makes you feel any better, I’m still crying over Peri.
