I had a hard time with this one. Every character that I came up with was one I wanted to use later in the challenge. I begrudgingly agree with Kat that it would be unfair to choose the Doctor himself, though I think that most of the time he’s the one with the funniest lines.

However, I had overlooked the absolute funniest character in New Who:

Missy

I can’t believe it took me so long to think of her. She is freaking hilarious.

The way Michelle Gomez portrays the latest incarnation of the Master is just perfect. Crazy and unpredictable, you never know what Missy will do next. She could offer you a cup of tea or she could try to kill you. She’s deliciously evil.

                  

We catch a glimpse of Missy in “Deep Breath,” which fueled all sorts of speculation about who her character would turn out to be. Then she meets up with the Doctor, Clara, Osgood, and others in “Dark Water” / “Death in Heaven” where she finally reveals her identity…eventually.

                  

 

There are so many great quotes from Missy that it’s hard to believe she has only been in a few episodes. I could barely stop laughing during “The Witch’s Familiar” because of all of her great one-liners.

Clara: “Why am I tied up?”

Missy: “In case there’s nothing to hunt.” *wink*

“Not seeing you as sandwiches now.”

“Dark star alloy. Goes through armor plating like a knife through people.”

I really hope we see Missy again. I was sure she would come back later in Season 9 but she never did. The last we heard, she had come up with a plan. I hope we get some resolution on that. She was left in a room full of daleks but I don’t believe for a second that they’ve killed her off.
