Did you miss me?
Just kidding. I’m sorry I suddenly disappeared last week. We had a family emergency last weekend and it’s taken a while to recover. I won’t bore you with the details. Just know that I’m working on catching up finally and hopefully normal service will be resumed shortly!
Now, back to the Challenge.I know Erin said that we weren’t allowed to do repeats. I agreed to that. But I can’t really help myself on this one. Today’s prompt and tomorrow’s go together well for me. So, really, this is part one of two.

And a random fun fact about this story is that the first episode aired the day before I was born.
We all probably have at least one story where we would change the ending. The answer I hear most often is probably “Doomsday”. And if we were talking New Who, I would probably say “Hell Bent”. Because for most of us, it’s probably that a character we loved was leaving and we didn’t want that to happen. We’ll find any way to keep them around. I know I certainly would do for Clara.*
That is why of all the story endings in 26 years of Classic Doctor Who, I would most like to change the ending of “Mindwarp.”
Now, I realize that there are, of course, two (or possibly more if you are into the extended universe) versions of Peri’s exit from the TARDIS. This one, and the other where she leaves to marry Brian Blessed’s King Yrcanos and his most excellent beard.
To be completely honest, I hate both endings. HATE THEM. And I have several ridiculous and probably fan fiction-y ways that I would change it. But they all end with Old Sixy sweeping into the room in a blur of technicolor to save Peri from either. And then they walk hand-in-hand back to the TARDIS–to argue, mainly.
If you’re baffled by my choice here, I promise I’ll explain more in Part Two. Or Day 14, rather.
Which Classic episode/story would you change the ending to? Would you alter another companion’s ending? Or a Doctor’s? Let us know in the comments!
* Not that her ending wasn’t spectacular. It was. But I’d be perfectly happy to see Clara and Twelve gallivanting around the universe for the rest of time. I would never get tired of them.
